Ashley Devonshire, Psy.D. Owner of Devonshire Pediatric Neuropsychology

Meet the Owner of Devonshire Pediatric Neuropsychology!

Hi! I’m Dr. Ashley Devonshire, a licensed clinical psychologist with specialized training in pediatric neuropsychology. I work closely with children and their families to identify both areas of strength and areas that may need extra support, always with the goal of creating a clear and hopeful path forward.

Before becoming a psychologist, I taught in the Chicago Public Schools. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how schools operate and how children learn best. It also allows me to provide informed, realistic recommendations for academic supports such as IEPs and 504 Plans.

Today, I conduct neuropsychological evaluations for children, teens, and young adults ages 2 through 21. My work is grounded in compassion, clarity, and the belief that every child deserves to be seen and supported for who they truly are.

In my free time, I enjoy taking my dog to the beach, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends!

Education and Expertise

I earned my Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. My training in neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological assessment took place across several respected hospital settings, including Rush Neurobehavioral Center, Advocate Illinois Masonic Pediatric Developmental Center, NorthShore Hospital Systems, and a private practice in Chicago.

I completed my pre-doctoral internship in Health Psychology at the Alexandria VA Health System in Louisiana, followed by a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology with a specialization in Pediatric Neuropsychology at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, Michigan. During my fellowship, I conducted neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents with a wide range of neurological and developmental conditions, including epilepsy, traumatic brain injury (TBI), genetic disorders, cancer, intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and congenital conditions that affect development.

After completing my training, I joined a pediatric group practice in Tampa, Florida, before returning to Illinois to open Devonshire Pediatric Neuropsychology. My research interests include the early identification of autism spectrum disorder and the impact of early childhood trauma on the developing brain.

In addition to my doctoral training, I hold a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education (M.Ed.) from DePaul University. Before becoming a psychologist, I taught preschool and kindergarten in the Chicago Public School System and at a private Montessori school. That experience continues to shape the way I understand children and support families today.

I’m also an active member of the following professional organizations:

  • American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology (AAPdN)

  • American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN)

  • National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN)
